Our new packaging

Our new packaging

When we launched back in February this year we set a big goal for ourselves: to work towards sustainable packaging by the end of this year. After plenty of research and designing we landed on these stunningly beautiful and certified fully recyclable mono-material bags. Made in the EU and designed by our trusted partners of GroowUp in Breda.

Below is a visual guide to our new packaging. Read on for more info about it's sustainability aspects.

In everything we do we want to challenge the coffee industry to do better. A key aspect of our sustainability goals is to work on better packaging solutions. Today we introduce our certified fully recyclable packaging for our 250 gram units.

The new packaging is a mono material fully recyclable Polypropolene. This means it exists of only one type of packaging. It is fully printed and does not use any adhesives or other materials.
The packaging is certified by Interzero - a leading company for recycling in Europe. It is checked on 20 standards of which it must comply with at least 18 to receive the certification.
Our partner for the new packaging is Packiro based in Cologne. The full production process takes place in the EU. Short supply lines further reduce the packagins’ negative impact and keep things closer to home.
The Interzero certification ensures the packaging is produced with recycling in mind and the resulting recyclate is of a high quality. This significantly increases the chances of the packaging to be repurposed after disposal by consumers. In Germany recycling is extremely common and almost every household has access to the proper disposal bin in their house. As this is our home country we choose the option that fits best where we sell most.
Working with fully printed packaging is no easy feat. We planned the next twelve months of coffee releases in advance and can therefore prepare designs and production well ahead of time.
We aim to get our kilo bags up to speed to our 250 gram bags as soon as possible. For now we will use an universal bag that uses a single sticker to identify the coffee. As we grow we can replace those with fully printed bags as well.
